The research activity of Fabio Sciarrino has mainly been devoted to the experimental realization of quantum information protocols by exploiting the methods of Quantum Optics. The achievement of the results reported below has required the developments of innovative experimental techniques, based on non-linear optics, ultra-fast lasers and detection methods, as well as of new theoretical insights.
On one hand, the results of
the investigations have provided an advancement on the experimental techniques
of Quantum Optics, both on single and multiphoton domains. On the other hand,
these results have contributed to understand some conceptual aspects of the
foundations of quantum mechanics (non-locality tests, micro-macro transition) and of
quantum information theory.
